Part 2 of our fun Sex Prediction tests & old midwife tales series
Legend says that the sex chart is more than 700 years old and was discovered in a royal tomb. It predicts your baby's sex based on your Chinese lunar age at the time you got pregnant and the Chinese lunar month in which you conceived. You can find one here or use the chart given below.
Yes, this one seems a bit gross as you have to essentially play with your urine, but you pee in a cup everytime you go to a prenatal appointment anyway, so why not at home! Put a little bit of baking soda in the bottom of a cup and then add a little bit of your urine to it. If it fizzles, it may be a boy. If there’s no fizzle, it may be a girl. This method was used in a due date group by several members as a way to test the accuracy of their gender ultrasounds and out of 31 baking soda tests, 22 were right and 9 were wrong.

The next time you got to your doc and hear that precious heartbeat, pay attention to how many beats per minute your little one is pumping. If it seems like your little bundle is running a marathon on there (over 140 bpm) expect a little girl. If your baby seems to be more of the couch potato kind (under 140 bpm) a little boy just might be on the way.
When you go to bed tonight, pay attention to what side you turn to. If you're more comfortable on your Left side you'll have a boy. Right side? It's a girl.
Use a piece of string to thread the ring/needle in the palm of the mom's hand for a moment, then lift the strand to allow it to dangle over her palm (or belly). If the ring moves in a back-and-forth motion pendulum motion, the test indicates that the baby is a boy. If the ring moves in a circular motion, the test indicates that the baby is a girl.
The dark line that some pregnant people get running from the pelvic bone, mid-abdomen, to the belly button or as far as the xyphoid(the bottom-most part of the rib cage in the center or tip of the sternum). The theory goes that if the linea nigra runs to the belly button, it's a girl, and if it goes all the way up to the xyphoid, it's a boy.
Not only can garlic keep vampires at bay, but it can also predict the sex of your baby. Eat a clove of garlic and if the smell leaks out through your pores, it's a boy. No smell? Girl.
Craving salty things such as fries and pretzels? If you answered yes, there may be a boy on the horizon. Craving sweets such as pie & ice cream? Prepare to share with your daughter!
If this pregnancy is giving you cold, dry hands and feet, expect a boy. Soft and warm? Probably a girl.
