Here's what some former clients have to say about me & my services:

"What do you say about the person who was there when your son came into the world? Besides my husband and the obvious medical staff that were required to be there, I never thought I’d be comfortable with essentially a stranger in that room, but that was because Rachel never felt like a stranger to me.
Before labor began, Rachel was willing to drive nearly an hour away from her home to come see me and my husband to talk about everything pregnancy, labor and delivery related. During labor and delivery, she was willing to be there the moment my water broke and the remaining 36 hours that followed until my son was born.
She provided the confidence I needed to be in that delivery room and make informed decisions along the way. It was important to me to have a natural delivery, but when I realized that my labor wasn’t progressing as it was supposed to, I was more assured of the decisions I needed to make with her and my husband by my side. While I didn’t have the labor and delivery I originally planned, I had an experience that was perfect to bring my little man into the world.
I owe a lot to Rachel – I went into that labor room with a plan for my life, my labor and my delivery and came out with a little man who now rules my world.
I whole heartedly recommend anyone looking for a doula, meet with Rachel. She knows her stuff and she's learning more everyday. Just meet with her and you will know what I am talking about. :-)"

"After being sick with hyperemesis gravidarum the entire pregnancy (I threw up between 3-25 times a day for 248 days), by the time I went into labor, I was exhausted and ready for the pregnancy to be done! My water broke first thing in the morning and I texted Rachel and let her know that my water broke but it wasn’t time for her to come yet. The entire birth team arrived after dinner, and Rachel stayed for nearly 18 hours (I had a home birth)! When the midwives wanted me to walk around the block, she helped me squat during contractions and when I was tired but my husband wanted me to keep walking, she helped me explain that I was done! I am a night owl and after a brief nap, I was wide awake and Rachel sat with me while everyone else napped before things started to pick up speed.
I pushed for 4 hours and barely slept during the entire 30 hours of labor, and during pretty much the entire 4 hours of pushing, Rachel was nearby with a new emesis bag or my water bottle so I could take more sips of water. She helped hold the chilly pad wherever I needed it when I felt like I was the temperature of the sun. When we wanted pictures taken, she jumped in and grabbed the camera so my husband could stay by my side. When I was in the birth pool, she sat just outside it with my husband and alerted him whenever she noticed I was about to have a contraction so I didn’t have to.
Rachel was an integral part of my birth team and I am incredibly grateful for the support that she offered. After being so sick during my pregnancy, I was not emotionally able to handle complications. After about 25 hours of labor, I was throwing up between every contraction and my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart and I started to doubt that this baby was ever going to come and started to doubt my own abilities. Rachel encouraged me and reminded me that even though it felt like it was taking forever, I was almost done."

After interviewing several qualified candidates we settled on Rachel secondary to her knowledge, varied skills and familiarity with our hospital. Prior to delivery, she came by and spent considerable amount of time with us. She assisted formulating our birth plan based on our needs and desires. We clearly saw how passionate she is about her doula work. Going over the usual scenario associated with the onset of labor made us at eased. Another aspect my wife liked was her ability to encapsulate the placenta. Which, she did wonderfully, at a great price.
The day of labor she met us at the hospital ready to go. My wife had a protracted labor. Our biggest goal was avoidance of a caesarean. My wife really wanted to delivery vaginally. Her breadth of knowledge on labor topics is beyond comprehensive. Hence, she can expertly provide the necessary unbiased info in order to reach a sound decision. For example, my wife desired an epidural early on. Rachel encouraged it but emphasized the importance of timing, and waiting until contractions were regular. My wife held out for over 12 hours after going into labor with Rachel’s assistance and maneuvers.
We had an excellent team consisting of a season mid-wife and OB nurse. Rachel meshed seamlessly with them. Throughout the labor, Rachel was always there when needed. She remained awake all 23 hours of the labor. My wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Needless to say, Rachel’s assistance was deeply appreciated. After this experience, I am convinced most mothers would benefit from a doula. We highly recommend her.
